Groupama is rolling out a new range of PMI products next year, despite the current stagnancy of the market.

Groupama managing director Tim Ablett confirmed this move at the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII) conference last week.

He said: " We decided we needed to increase out critical mass and so have incorporated more products so we can open the dialogue."

Ablett said that despite the stagnancy of the PMI market, it was potentially an area of rapid expansion.

"There is a burning demand to provide proper indemnity products," he said.

Ablett said the insurer would "innovate in conjunction with intermediaries".

At the Groupama sponsored conference, Ablett also addressed the role of technology in the health insurance market and said there was a need for a "radical rethink".

He cited collaboration as key to success.
