Acumus has signed a multi-million pound affinity deal with P&O Ferries.

The deal will give the personal lines specialist access to eight million customers who buy P&O ferry tickets each year and is expected to deliver £1m gross written premium annually.

AXA will underwrite the cover.

As part of the deal Acumus offer will cover camping equipment, gift purchases and vet fees as well as cancellation cover. A European motor breakdown cover will also be launched.

The cover will be sold over the internet with plans to launch a call centre, and provide on-board and port sales.

John Bibby, managing director of Acumus, said: "The shared enthusiasm between Acumus and P&O to develop their insurance offering, means that there is huge potential in this relationship."
