Liverpool Victoria has appointed Ashworth Mairs and The Claims People (TCP) to its loss adjusting panel.

The tender was launched two months ago and the decision made just before Christmas.

Liverpool Victoria's technical claims manager Trevor Webb said the insurer did not previously have contracts with loss adjusters but had three on a panel. He said Ashworth Mairs was one of the three.

"We received ten responses to the tender and there was lots of interest. The applicants put a lot of work into their responses," said Webb.

TCP chief executive Barry White said the decision was a "very valuable and important development".

He said: "This is a great way to start 2003."

Ashworth Mairs was not available for comment at the time of going to press.
