Confusion surrounds the offshoring plans of motor insurer Admiral. On a recent tour to the Cape Town office of Dialogue Group, Admiral's call centre provider in South Africa, Backchat's ears pricked up as Dialogue's head honchos revealed that Admiral was soon to take over almost the entire floor that its 35-odd staff currently part occupy.

To Backchat's eyes, there appeared to be space for at least another 35 staff, so doubling Admiral's call centre presence. But in the UK, Admiral's directors "stressed" they had no plans for further offshoring.

Perhaps Backchat's dog-like hearing failed, or Admiral was leading Dialogue Group up the garden path. Or, just perhaps, with offshoring being such a sensitive subject, Admiral was using stalling tactics. Readers, you decide.
