Direct motor insurer Admiral has started underwriting home insurance products.

The products had a low-key launch on 19 December 2012. Admiral had been discussing entry into home insurance for a number of years.

The home product suite comprises three tiers with increasing levels of coverage - Admiral, Admiral Gold and Admiral Platinum. They are available through price comparison sites or the insurer’s dedicated call centres.

Admiral said in a statement: “We are pleased to announce the launch of Admiral home insurance. This is our first move into underwriting our own household insurance product. As with our previous new products we do not plan an aggressive launch, but intend to grow at a steady rate.”

In launching the new products, Admiral has partnered with BCIS, the building cost information service of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Customers can use the BCIS Lookup Service to obtain instant, real time estimates of a residential property’s rebuilding cost.

Admiral household product manager Noel Summerfield said: “The accuracy of BCIS data makes them the ‘go to’ experts in the field and the only choice for Admiral as we expand our footprint in the household insurance market.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
