QBE pair defect to set up new leisure team.

Aegis London has formed a new UK leisure team after poaching two underwriters from QBE.

The UK-based subsidiary of Aegis (Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services) has appointed Peter Lodge to lead the new team.

Stephen Kiedish has joined as UK leisure underwriter.

The team will focus on businesses such as golf clubs, zoos, nightclubs, hotels and theme parks.

A spokesman said further appointments could be made soon.

Lodge, who was previously senior underwriter, property and casualty, at QBE, will report to John Chambers, deputy active underwriter and head of speciality lines at Aegis London.

Kiedish, who will report to Lodge, was leisure and sports underwriter at QBE.

David Croom-Johnson, active underwriter of Aegis London, said: “This move into the leisure sector is a logical extension of our existing non-marine property and casualty underwriting.”

Earlier this year, Aegis London poached Frank Chu, QBE’s cargo underwriter.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
