Lloyd's broker Alexander Brooks & Stevens reported falling turnover but rising profits in the year to 31 March 2003.Turnover was £2.6m, down from £2.7m the year before.The decline reflects a fall in the amount of business sourced from the UK, which fell to £1.7m from £1.9m the year before.A rise in overseas business to £845,000 from £740,000 failed to compensate.However, the company's pre-tax profit increased to £525,000 from £167,000.It paid a dividend of £75,000 against £43,000 the year before.
