Allianz Cornhill's claims department is on target to hit costs savings of £15m over the five-year period of its change management programme, according to claims director Jon Dye.

Dye put the savings in his £500m budget down to improvements in claims leakage, expense savings and cuts in supplier costs.

He said: "We are where we want to be and a bit further forward. The costs are coming out of the areas we expected, such as commercial property. A lot of the improvements are in [reducing] leakage."

Areas highlighted by Dye that have led to costs savings include the creation of dedicated centres concentrating on specific claims and the success of the company's claims academy training programme.

Meanwhile, Allianz Cornhill has set up a cross-department fraud group with representatives from commercial, personal and animal health lines of business.

The group, headed by Dye, will look at measures for cutting down on fraud in all areas including internal audit and fraud from suppliers.

Dye said: "It is about making sure that if we do something in personal lines that works, we make sure it is fed back to other areas of the business. It is a knowledge sharing vehicle."
