Allianz launches new public and employers liability team

Allianz has reported a ‘huge increase’ in casualty claims from a new specialist team handling public liability and employers’ liability claims.

Fraud manger Mihir Pandya says there is a 65% uplift in casualty claims since the team began three months ago.

Pandya believes employers’ liability and public liability claims are being fuelled by criminal networks, with links to the solicitors.

The surge in claims farming advertising, along with the recession, has been a root factor behind the explosion.

Pandya said: “The team has been formed in response to what we see as an emerging threat in the industry.

“The latest ABI figures show that the number of fraudulent claims rose by 14% last year with a total value of £840m.

“Despite little media focus on casualty fraud, Allianz is seeing rising levels of suspicious employers’ liability and public liability claims and is determined to tackle it by taking a proactive approach.”
