Former Evergreen management look for more broker deals

MGA AML Underwriting has secured capacity from W R Berkley Insurance (Europe) and now plans to add more brokers, further develop its products and recruit.

W R Berkley will join existing capacity from AmTrust Europe and back AML’s commercial combined and property owners products.

AML was set up in 2010 by former Evergreen management team members Daniel Berry and Jonathan Skinner, and uses many of the same loss adjusters and surveyors. It specialises in UK commercial property and liability insurance.

AML underwriting director Daniel Berry said: “The addition of W R Berkley to our panel is great news and reflects our commitment to growing the business with quality capacity. As ever the SME market is very competitive, but we continue to differentiate ourselves with tailored underwriting and unbeatable service. The combined support of W R Berkley and existing partner AmTrust will be invaluable to our on-going development.”

AML development director Jonathan Skinner said: “We’ve spent the last two years building a book of business that in the main has come from the relationships we have with our old Evergreen brokers – we pretty much picked up where we left off. But there are towns and cities out there where we don’t have representation, and we should, which we can develop whilst retaining our exclusivity.”

“Unencumbered by thousands of agencies and apathetic cultures, we offer the independent broker an effective new business tool and an alternative to the ‘computer says no’ approach of many of our competitors.”

In a statement, AML said it offers its brokers one price to market, access to decision makers and 24-hour turnaround on enquiries.
