Amlin’s Kevin Allchorne is taking over as underwriting director of Amlin London from Simon Beale (pictured).

It follows Beale’s appointment as group chief underwriting officer of Amlin Underwriting in July.

Allchorne will take on his new role on 1 October, subject to regulatory approval.

He joined Amlin in 1992 and has worked in the property insurance, casualty insurance and, for the past 15 years, in the property reinsurance team of Syndicate 2001 at Amlin Underwriting.

In 2008 he assumed responsibility for Amlin London’s reinsurance business and became a member of the division’s executive committee.

Allchorne is joining the board of Amlin Underwriting, where Beale remains as a non-executive director.

Group chief executive Charles Philipps and finance director Richard Hextall will step down from the board of Amlin Underwriting on 1 October.

The insurer said its new group management structure, which includes an underwriting review board on which Philipps and Hextall sit, together with the underwriting practice boards, will “ensure that they maintain appropriate oversight of AUL’s business”.
