Amlin's final results for 2000 showed a 2.6% loss of capacity, largely due to losses from 11 September. Excluding the impact of the attacks, the syndicate made a 1.3% profit.

Amlin wrote £398.4m of premium income in 2000.

Amlin's property reinsurance and UK commercial motor accounts achieved good results. Large direct property insurance, US casualty and aviation accounts performed badly. The syndicate has forecast gross premium income of £581.4m for 2001, with about £140m of gross premium income written after 11 September.

For 2002, Amlin has forecast gross premium income of £836.7m, up 44% on the forecast for 2001.
