Backchat learns that the number-crunchers at Allianz Cornhill may have come up with a new rating factor for motor business.

The insurer tells us that tigers and sheep are heading the field in terms of high risk drivers, while rats, oxen and pigs are the safest.

The animals of course refer to Chinese zodiac signs rather than the farmyard variety behind the wheel.

So will Allianz take this up as a rating tool?

Personal lines underwriter Andrew Weir said: "I have always been sceptical about star signs but this has been an interesting exercise that has thrown up some surprising results."

Please Andrew, just say no.
