Peter Hubbard joins the board of UK General Insurance

Former Axa chief executive Peter Hubbard has been appointed to the boards of UK General Insurance, the business created following the merger of Longhawk Insurance Group and PBS Holdings in June.

Hubbard will join the boards of all group companies from 1st September 2009 and the appointment is subject to FSA approval.

Hubbard is currently a vice-president of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and a non-executive director of Keoghs LLP.

UK General said that his participation, alongside Tim Rolfe (chief executive), Michael Warren (chief operating officer) and Karen Smith (technical director) will enhance the governance framework of the business, ensuring that the company's planned expansion is controlled effectively.

Chairman Howard Posner said: “Peter has made it no secret that he was interested in returning to the Insurance sector in a non-executive capacity but would only do so with a business he felt had true potential. His decision to join us is clearly an endorsement of our business strategy and that he shares my belief in the aims of the new group. I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to our future success.”

The company said that the planned merger is proceeding on schedule.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
