One million skiers admit to being drink on the slopes

InsureandGo has applauded the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s don’t-drink-and-ski campaign after its own research found as many as a million people have skied or snowboarded while drunk.

  • 13% say they have skied or snowboarded while drunk
  • 2% very drunk
  • 4% moderately drunk
  • 7% slightly drunk
  • 19% of 25-34 year-olds admitted drinking
  • 18% of admitted drinkers had an accident
  • 3% had a serious accident.

Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, said: “It is good news that the FCO has launched this campaign as we regularly see evidence of people overindulging in alcohol and then hitting the slopes and having an accident.

“We understand that people are going to have a drink on their holidays, but being drunk on the slopes is extremely dangerous and they need to be responsible.
