The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) has said it welcomes government proposals to regulate claims management companies.
APIL said that although there is clearly some detail still to be established during the passage of the Compensation Bill, the legislation is likely to provide the robust protection for injured people which is long overdue.
However, APIL said that it has concerns about provisions on the law of negligence. It said that the language of the bill is clearly open to interpretation so that it is unlikely to result in clarification of the law, which was the original intention of the bill.
