MGA’s new hire will develop new products for distribution through UK brokers

Underwriting agency Aqua has hired Towergate’s Scott Brown as an executive director to develop its UK commercial offering to brokers.

Brown was previously Towergate’s chief executive of commercial lines and bespoke underwriting. Before this he was managing director of Towergate-owned coverholder Fusion.

In his new role at Aqua, Brown will develop new products for distribution through specialist UK brokers.

The new products will be in addition to Aqua’s existing commercial offering, which includes specialist cover for commercial engineers, manufacturers, storage and distribution companies and printing businesses.

Aqua chief executive Graham Elliot said: “We are already growing strongly in the UK private insurance sector and are seeing similar success with our recent international product launches in terrorism, Caribbean property and marine.

“Scott’s experience and product development expertise will allow us to put greater focus on new products for the UK commercial sector.”

Brown added: “The UK commercial market is competitive, but there is both market capacity and broker appetite for insurance products that intelligently address niche areas of commercial risk. Aqua’s highly targeted approach and strong relationships with insurers and producing brokers mean it can quickly identify areas of need and opportunity and bring relevant products to market.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
