ARAG acquires Capita’s before-the-event portfolio

Bristol-based legal services provider ARAG has purchased the family and commercial legal expenses business portfolio of before-the-event legal expenses insurance specialist Capita Assistance.

ARAG managing director Tony Buss, said: “Although our before-the-event business has grown substantially over the past two years, the purchase of the Capita portfolio will substantially increase our income overnight in our core broker and insurer markets.

“Capita has a long and trusted reputation in this market and has very well established connections. It is now our aim to further develop these relationships by offering a wider, more comprehensive range of products and services to meet the ever changing needs of their customers.”

Richard Holland, managing director, Capita Insurance Services said: “We are pleased to have concluded this transaction with ARAG, who not only share the same underwriter as us, Brit Insurance, but have a strong presence across Europe. We are confident that the transaction provides for minimum disruption to our customers.”
