Rupert Villers will be moving to a part time role with Aspen in 2011

Aspen Insurance CEO Rupert Villers is stepping down from his position after only 9 months in the job.

A spokesperson for Aspen confirmed: “Rupert Villers will transition to a part time role at Aspen in 2011 and will step down as CEO of the insurance division once a successor has been appointed.”

Insurance Times understands Villers will retain responsibility for Aspen’s financial institutions and professional lines in his new role. Before becoming CEO in January this year, Villers was global head of professional and financial lines.

It is also understood that Villers is stepping down for personal reasons and is hoping to achieve a better work-life balance.

Villers co-founded SVB Holdings (now Novae Holdings) in 1986, holding the position of CEO from 1991 to 2002. He joined Aspen in April 2009.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
