Ratings agency Fitch said that Aviva's long term A+ outlook remains stable.
It said the company's proposed £750m direct capital instruments issue should help reduce its equity adjusted leverage.
The ratings agency said by using the new issue to replace existing senior debt, Aviva's overall debt levels would remain unchanged.
