King will be responsible for insurer’s relationships with large commercial brokers

AXA commercial lines and personal intermediary has appointed Barrie King as head of strategic partnerships.

King will be responsible for AXA’s relationships with large commercial lines brokers with a national presence and making sure the insurer is consistent across its accounts.

The appointment is the latest development in AXA’s regional broking structure, where several appointments have been made in recent months.

King will be succeeded as Birmingham branch manager by former Reading branch manager and, more recently, head of new deals Ed Pugh. The position was previously held by Anne Harrison, who now manages the Manchester branch.

Commercial intermediary managing director Matthew Reed said: “I am delighted that Barrie has accepted this position. We conducted an extensive search across the market, but the outstanding candidate by a country mile was Barrie, who already has extensive relationships with many of our strategic broker partners.”

“Ed will be great for Birmingham and I have no doubt that he will replicate the sterling work done in both Reading and Maidstone and his move to the Birmingham branch will fulfil a pivotal role in one of our largest branches. These two appointments are in line with our strategic aim to recognise and reward talent from within AXA to keep our brightest and best in those roles that will most benefit our broker partners.”
