AXA had its own take on the Commonwealth Games at the weekend.

The insurer was celebrating the successful culmination of its Going for Gold programme, which recognised outstanding customer service by its staff, in Manchester.

It took 25 of its highest-achieving staff and their partners to the Manchester Airport Hilton, gave them weekend tickets to the Games, a celebratory dinner and their own gold medals.

Staff said that AXA's customer care head Ali Blackmore, the driving force behind Going for Gold, had one of the toughest jobs in the company, but was more concerned that others' good work was recognised than receiving accolades herself.
