Matthew Waller joins as cyber, technology and media underwriter

Business deal work handshake people

Lloyd’s insurer Barbican has today announced the appointment of Matthew Waller as cyber, technology and media underwriter as it seeks to grow its cyber book.

Waller will report to underwriting manager - cyber, technology and media Geoff White.

Waller’s expertise spans both the underwriting and broking arenas.

Most recently, he was a senior underwriter at ACE USA, where he led a professional liability book of business, which incorporated cyber, media and technology products. Prior to that, he worked for Frank Crystal & Company, focusing on professional and management liability insurance.

White said: “The cyber arena is one in which we see significant opportunities for growth driven by product innovation and the ability to deliver bespoke solutions. Barbican has already established a prominent position in the sector by providing flexible, comprehensive solutions built around the specific needs of the individual client. Matthew brings a strong combination of both broking and underwriting expertise from the US cyber market. He has already built a strong track record for identifying opportunities and expanding market penetration, and is a great addition to the team.”
