Listing documents were expected to start arriving with potential investors today and pricing is set for 9 June.
The float is likely to be the year's biggest in London, with a group value of at least £650m.
The group has come a long way since its foundation in 1973 as Benfield, Lovick & Rees & Co.
Its rising fortunes accelerated with the 1988 management buy-out led by the Chelsea FC director, the late Matthew Harding, John Coldman and current chief executive Grahame Chilton.
