Bestinvest has acquired Amilcroft, a long-established Kent-based insurance broker.

Amilcroft specialises in the corporate market and also operates a marine division.

Amilcroft founder Robert Elkins will continue to be actively involved and has been appointed a director of Bestinvest's subsidiary, Lovat Insurance.

Tim Austen, founder and chief executive of Lovat Insurance, said: "I am confident that the combination of our two businesses will be much stronger than the individual components."
