Biba is backing a television campaign being launched today by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau to tackle uninsured driving.

The TV campaign will raise awareness of the government’s Continuous Insurance Enforcement scheme to crackdown on uninsured drivers.

This will come into force from June 20th, making it is an offence to keep an uninsured vehicle, rather than just to drive when uninsured.

Biba's Head of corporate affairs, Graeme Trudgill, said: “The enforcement of the new law is a bold move to tackle uninsured driving and will make the roads safer. The TV campaign is a welcome Insurance industry initiative that will help raise awareness of the new law.

“Biba is delighted to have been involved in the biggest change to motor insurance law since the second world war, so today is a big step forward for the industry and for road safety.”
