Biba held a seminar for its Northern Ireland members last week in an effort to raise awareness of problems associated with using broker chains.
This followed reports that a number of brokers in the region have got into difficulties.
A Biba spokesman said: "There are about 15 brokers in Northern Ireland that are owed large amounts of money as a result of problems experienced with broker chains."
It was reported last month that Northern Ireland broker Laing & Co has accused Yorkshire-based broker Preston Whiteside of "collecting clients money and not placing the cover".
The Biba spokesman stressed that the seminar was not about the problems involving Laing & Co and Preston Whiteside.
It is believed that a number of Northern Ireland brokers could now face E&O claims from clients as a result of problems arising from broker chains.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
