Berkshire-based BJP Insurance Brokers is looking to expand in the SME and personal lines markets following a string of recruitments.

BJP has recruited three members to its sales team to target more SME business, and hired a personal lines manager to increase its non-commercial clients.

The independent broker currently specialises in commercial lines.

It controls gross written premiums of £16m, with construction insurance contributing around 70% of that income.

Andy Brown, manager of BJP Retail, said: “We are speaking to different insurers to help us target new trades among SMEs. To do this we have brought in extra sales people to specifically target those trades.”

Brown said the company was actively looking to make acquisitions, but not to expand into other geographic regions at this stage.

He said: “We are perm-anently looking at acquis-itions. We have a couple in the line and talks are ongoing.

“We have expansion plans and we want to spread out and support other markets.”
