BLG lands two new construction warranties

Specialist broker Building and Land Guarantee (BLG) has announced the launch of two warranties for the construction industry under its shield range.

Roof Clad Shield, a long term warranty, provides a guarantee against defective workmanship, materials and design in roofing and cladding on mid-size contracts.

Periods from five to 25 years are considered, even after the works have been completed and premiums will start from £500.

BLG has also launched Guarantee Shield, a long-term warranty providing insurance backing to a contractor’s written guarantee

BLG’s James Russell said: “We’ve been in the roofing warranty market for a number of years, catering for large blue chip projects. We’ve been repeatedly asked to look at warranties for mid-size projects and so we’re pleased to now fill this gap in the market.”

“Insuring new buildings is a relatively straightforward process but what this sector has often struggled to do is insure component parts of buildings. If you are a glazing contractor and need to install 150 windows, the main contractor will understandably want a guarantee from you, backed by insurance. With Guarantee Shield, we can provide sub-contractors with the ability to back their contract with insurance which could mean the difference between them winning a tender or losing it.”
