Broking group Bluefin has launched a new schemes and affinities division called Bluefin Solutions.

The new division will focus on the development and distribution of new and existing schemes and affinities. It will bring the creation, management, distribution and underwriting of key schemes under one management team, led by schemes and affinities head Mike Owen.

Owen said: “We are committed to providing the highest level of service to our clients. Combining our schemes and affinities business under one management team will enable us to offer a more cohesive solution to our clients, ensuring that we meet their needs more effectively.”

Bluefin Insurance Group managing director Mike Bruce added:“This realignment of our schemes and affinities business will be of significant benefit to clients and to our business as a whole. When Mike Owen joined us earlier this year, we announced that he would be reviewing our schemes and affinities business to realise its full potential, and now we are seeing that happen.“

Bluefin Solutions will incorporate Bluefin’s existing ‘schemes and affinities’ and ‘professions’ divisions as well as the underwriting operation, based in Newmarket, and wholesale.

Mark Westgarth, currently managing director of Bluefin’s professions division, will take on a wider role to encompass wholesale distribution and the group-wide strategic development and implementation of e-commerce.

Liz Johnson will continue as head of Newmarket underwriting, and David Taylor will oversee operations and performance of the division. All three will work with Mike Owen to develop the strategy for the entire division.
