Everyone in the industry was talking about Michael Bright's resignation from his job as the chief executive of Independent Insurance last week.
Everyone, that is, except those at the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
When our hack telephoned the institute to get its reaction to Bright's shock announcement, the CII staffer she spoke to was non-plussed.
“What announcement?” came the response.
Obviously suspecting a practical joke, they said they would check out the story then call us back. Which they did, to say that it made absolutely no difference whatsoever to his position as president of the CII.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
