Former Axa area manager joins as BDM for the North West

Brit has appointed Keith Commander as business development manager for its North West region.

He will report to regional manager Maureen Owen and takes up his position immediately.

Commander joins Brit Insurance from Axa and has nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance sector in the North of England. Most recently, he was area manager - responsible for over 50 staff - in Axa’s Leeds office and has a wealth of experience gained in managerial, sales and underwriting roles. Throughout his career, he has focussed on developing key relationships with both national and independent brokers.

Maureen Owen, regional manager, at Brit Insurance said: “Keith’s strong existing broker contacts, and his proven ability to continually develop new relationships, will be instrumental in the drive to expand Brit Insurance’s presence in the region.

"To attract a manager of his calibre, with unrivalled local knowledge and experience, is testament to our growing reputation.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
