Brit Re chief executive Jonathan Turner has quit in the wake of a decision to merge Brit’s reinsurance and global markets arms.

Brit, in a statement, said Turner had left because of a desire to ‘seek fresh challenges’.

The merger of Brit Reinsurance and Global Markets will lead to the formation of Brit Global Speciality.

Brit Global Speciality will work from a single platform with its own profit and loss account.

Matthew Wilson, currently head of global markets, will head up Brit Global Speciality and report directly into group chief executive Mark Cloutier.

Brit thanked Turner for his work. The statement added: “Under his tenure our relationship with Lloyd’s has improved significantly and the SBU under his direction has made excellent returns. The company wishes him well for the future and is extremely grateful to him for his service and dedication to Brit.”
