Brokers are being offered a free computer with internet and e-mail access, domain name and software if they do £10,000 of business with wholesaler Broker Brands, writes Paddy Gourlay.

The Chelmsford-based firm aims to reach a client base of 2,000 brokers and intermediaries by the millennium, and has forged links with the AiiB, and software house New Millennium Technologies.

The computer deal is worth up to £1,600 with free delivery and installation.

Brokers can also have the NMT comparative quote menu installed free although there will be a monthly fee to keep rates updated.

"We approached a number of brokers to test the water and they have all jumped at the offer," said sales manager Jon Britton.

To qualify brokers must sell £10,000 worth of Broker Brands products in 12 months. Brokers that take-up the offer but fail to sell the required amount of business will be billed.

Products currently available include home and contents, family legal protection, touring caravans and composure (a computer package).

A tradesman liability product, a fleet product, and a non-standard motor product will be launched soon.
