Broker Network has doubled its sales team in a bid to add 60 new members a year to its current total of 175.

The expanded team will also continue the network’s ‘start-up proposition’ and by April 2008, aims to have set up six new broker firms, according to the company.

The team now comprises four people and is backed by a support group of four.

Last year the division created two broker firms based in the North – IMI Insurance Brokers, headed by Mark Ramsbottom, and SM Commercial Insurance Brokers whose principal is Steve Higgins.

Speaking to Insurance Times, Grant Ellis, Broker Network’s chief executive, said that given current levels of broker consolidation, many senior people had found themselves disillusioned, especially if they had been promised roles which had gone to staff at the acquiring company.

He said that, as a consequence, many had realised that with their knowledge and expertise they could start their own broker firm which the network’s start-up proposition would assist.

The news comes as Broker Network revealed a new brand image (see above) for the group’s various operations, designed to give a “more contemporary feel”.

Ellis added: “I believe these new identities, along with other developments which I will announce at later dates, send a strong signal to the market that we are serious about continued growth and market leadership.”
