Two brokers are preparing to launch products to cover gay weddings.

Travellers Protections Services, a wedding insurance specialist, is ready to offer its product, which will be broadly similar to marriage ceremony insurance.

The cover, which will be offered through gay-focused IFAs and ceremony services companies, is to be launched in the next four to six weeks as same sex couples plan ahead for the first civil ceremonies, later in the year.

Travellers will be followed shortly by Acumus Insurance Solutions, the Altrincham based broker. It plans to offer the product in time for when the ceremonies begin.

Travellers' cover will be underwritten by UK Underwriting, the Leeds-based underwriting agency.

Will Sommerville, business development manager at Travellers, said the move may be a "leap of faith," but the group is confident that it will prove a booming market.
