The budget fails to acknowledge the need for better rehabilitation and the role employers must play in reducing the number of absent workers, according to FirstAssist's Tim Ablett:

“The Chancellor has offered carrots to those returning to work, but needs to be more pro-active if he's serious helping the 2.7m long-term sick in this country get back to work.

“Companies with low absentee records should be rewarded and the worst offenders punished. Rehabilitation must come from day one, and should be a priority for employers, with the support of government.

“Mr Brown talks about increasing productivity and improving skills, but he ignores the resource available to businesses already – their absent workforce."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
