Bupa emergency airlifts take off

From emergency airlifts out of jungle territory to 24/7 general medical advice, BUPA International's newly launched worldwide medical assistance team say they have got it covered.

The team, based in Copenhagen, handle all evacuation and repatriation requests, and answer general medical advice queries – via 'healthline' - for BUPA International's individual and small company members around the world.

Healthline gives members access to advice from medical professionals as well as providing travel information and help locating embassies and hospitals whilst abroad.

With hundreds of medical evacuations and repatriations arranged a year and 1,000 healthline calls taken a month, the importance of the team's role at BUPA International, the world's largest expat health insurer, is crucial.

Dr Torben Stæhr Johansen, BUPA International, said: "When you're living and working abroad, it's so important to have the peace of mind in knowing that the best healthcare is on hand. Access to BUPA's medical professionals and evacuation services 24/7 is therefore vital and potentially life-saving.

"BUPA International also offers its members advice on specific health concerns related to the country in which they live. It also provides access to multi-lingual health advisers who can give advice about local healthcare facilities in every region of the world. "
