Half of claimants said they would consider buying car insurance from the liable third party insurer who facilitated provision of treatment through BUPA Recover, according to a recent survey by BUPA.

Bupa Recover, which provides rehabilitation treatment for people injured in accidents, sent over 1,500 surveys to claimants who completed treatment during February and March 2006.

Jane Turner, BUPA Recover Operations Team Manager said: “We were very encouraged to see such a positive number of claimants would consider purchasing insurance from the liable TPI on renewal of their motor policy. This obviously raises questions of potential commercial opportunities for those insurance companies footing the rehab bill.”

BUPA Recover's current provision of treatments includes physiotherapy, X-Rays, MRI scans, surgery and counselling.
