Leading income-protection specialist Permanent Insurance has announced a 75% increase in new business for the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 1998.

Significant gains were achieved across all major lines of business.

The amount of new term assurance more than doubled – an increase of 130%. There was also significant increases for group income protection, up by 87%, and critical illness cover.

Sales and marketing manager Rod MacDonald said: “We believe that our innovative product development programmes, competitive rates and high standards of service have been instrumental in spearheading this increase in sales.”

MacDonald added that Permanent is set to implement a new development on the internet to build on this success.
