Lloyd's broker Carroll & Partners has opened a new wholesale schemes and underwriting division based in Colchester this week.
A Carroll & Partners spokesman confirmed that the new office was officially launched on 1 June.
The branch will offer retail brokers schemes for small businesses on a wholesale basis. Carroll & Partners will also underwrite some schemes.
The new office will be headed by Nick Thurston, formerly of Colchester-based broker Freelance.
Earlier this year, Carroll & Partners launched a professional risks division. The division brokes a range of professional indemnity business, though solicitors' risks are excluded.
