Broker will specialise in commercial and SME

Champion Accountants has set up its own insurance broker, specialising in the commercial and corporate SME market.

The Manchester-based business will initally start broking for its accountancy clients but eventually expand into the wider market.

Managing director Dan Maloney is joined by commercial account manager Carl Jones, who has worked in insurance for over 20 years.

Maloney spoke of his team’s “strong technical knowledge, extensive experience in placing complex risks, and excellent relationships with major insurers”.

Partner Ged Cosgrove said Maloney “has the expertise to further establish Champion as the North West’s leading business adviser to SMEs”.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
