Regional claims director to bring property and motor lines in-house

Chartis is reviewing its outsourced claims operations with a view to bringing as many as possible back in-house.

The insurer, formerly AIG UK, is focusing the review on claims in property and motor lines.

Chartis executive director of regional claims for UK and Ireland Steve Agutter said: “I do believe there’s a place for outsourcing, but anything we can bring back in-house, we will look to do in the coming months.”

Agutter also highlighted Chartis’s recent multimillion-pound investment in new technology to prepare itself for the Ministry of Justice reforms of personal injury claims, due to come into force on 30 April.

The new unit, developed in partnership with Parabis, will make direct contact with injured third parties in a bid to take solicitors out of the process.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
