Marsh chief executive Michael Cherkasky told investors at a shareholder meeting that the company would stop apologising for broker misconduct.
“We've apologised enough,” he said.
He told investors that the company “is not corrupt” and said changes had been made to Marsh's structure to make amends for past mistakes.
Cherkasky said the standard for working at Marsh isn't the criminal law.
"That is much too low a standard for us. The standard is to have people who would hit our high standards, and we will hold people accountable," he said.
Cherkasky rallied support for the company, telling shareholders: "It's a great company.
"Does it have problems, does it need to improve, and does it need to do things differently? Yes. And we will right those wrongs."
