Chubb Europe chief executive Chris Giles given new international role

Chubb Insurance Europe chief executive Chris Giles has been promoted to international field operations manager for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, effective from 1 January 2010.

Giles has held his current role as chief executive of Chubb Insurance Europe since 2002, during which time premiums grew by 25% and record profitability was achieved in both 2007 and 2008.

Prior to this he spent four years as the chief executive of Chubb Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. Giles joined Chubb in 1995 as the European accident & health manager, based in London.

Chubb said it has begun the process of appointing a successor to assume Giles’s role as chief executive europe and will make an announcement in due course.

The Chubb International field operations manager has overall responsibility for the Europe, Canada, Asia Pacific and Latin America zones within the Chubb Corporation.

From 1 May 2009, Giles will assume the role of deputy international field operations manager working alongside Jan Tomlinson, the current international field operations manager, until her retirement at the end of this year after 36 years with Chubb. Giles will continue to be based in London when he assumes the new role.
