Allianz Cornhill could face a barrage of business interruption claims following the death of Russian ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko after his visit to the Itsu sushi bar in Piccadilly.

A spokeswoman confirmed that the insurer provided commercial cover for the restaurant, but neither she nor Itsu managing director Clive Schlee revealed any potential claim details.

Litvinenko visited the restaurant on 1 November and his death later this month has been linked to a major dose of radioactive polonium-210 in his body.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
