Storm-related claims climb as flood warnings are issued

Loss adjuster GAB Robins reported a 49% increase in week-on-week terms in storm related claims following the storms that battered the UK last week.

GAB said its building repair division had seen a significant jump in the amount of storm claims it was dealing with, with overall claims also showing an increase on the previous week.

But Cunningham Lindsey director of client relationships Kevin Larman said claims had not gone up by a huge amount.

"There was a slight increase in the number of claims we were appointed to, but it was in line with the overall severity of the storms."

Flood warnings were issued in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with the worst affected areas being Wales, the South West and the South East.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
