Insurers refused to cover Freddie Starr

Freddie Starr I'm a Celebrity

Comedian Freddie Starr’s entry into the I’m A Celebrity jungle was delayed by an insurance wrangle.

Insurers refused to cover the comic because of a series of health conditions. Starr had a heart attach and bypass last year.

Producers of the ITV reality show held last ditch talks with insurers in a bid to secure cover for the 68-year-old, according to reports at the weekend.

The hitch meant the show started with just nine out of the ten stars appearing this year’s series.

Starr’s late arrival was broadcast when the showed aired last night.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
