Home contents premiums are highest in Islington

After the ignominy of being voted one of the worst places to live in the UK, the London borough of Islington has been found to be the most expensive place in the country in which to be insured.

According to research carried out by actuary EMB, trendy Islington – former home of Tony Blair and family, and birthplace of New Labour – is the most expensive region in which to buy insurance for cars and homes, with an average premium of £745.

EMB said that the high levels of violence and drug-related crime in Islington had a significant effect on insurance premiums.
