Covéa has hired Phillip Bird to head up its personal lines underwriting department.

In his new role Bird will be responsible for developing the personal lines underwriting business.

He will work closely with Covea’s distribution and pricing teams to develop the business with new and existing broker partners.

He replaces Malcolm Cooper who left the company in June.

Covea Insurance actuarial director Simon Kneller said: “We are very pleased that Phil has joined as head of personal lines underwriting.

“Phil’s broad experience of underwriting, broking and his industry knowledge were all important in our decision to bring him to Covéa Insurance.”
